Aim of the study: to evaluate the use of a vascularized flap in the reconstruction of postoperative defects of the hard palate.

 Materials and methods: The 48-year-old patient with hard palate defect. Radial flap with direct bloodstream was chosen to substitute the palatal defect.

 Results: postoperational wounds were maintained with use of the “Tseloform” sorbent. Healing of the wound was primary. At the 10^th day the patient recovered from nasal sound, normal consuming of liquid and solid food was restored, possibility of rhinosinusitis and otitis development was prevented.

 Conclusion: application of a vascularized flap in plastic surgery of hard palate postoperational defects is the method of choice in the surgical treatment of patients with congenital cleft palate.

In this article the clinical case of significant postoperational hard palate defect is described.
