To assess the role of couveuses as a factor transferring infections connected with health care delivery, the targeted microbiological monitoring was organized in the Department for intensive care of newborns. The detailed study of couveuses’ contamination included microbiological examination on the 7th day of the couveuse release. Microorganisms were found on couveuses’ various parts and objects with the following frequency (for 100 researches): couveuse mattress ― 3.8±1.9; cartridge cover ― 4.5±2.1; internal wall of the couveuse ― 4.5±2.1; contour for water drainage ― 4.5±2.1; external surface of the couveuse ― 8.2±2.8; cover of water heating elements of humidifier cartridges ― 9.1±1.4; couveuse door ― 11.7±3.2; fans impellers’ blades ― 13.5±3.6. The maximal contamination was detected in sterile water used in the process of humidifying the oxygen mix in a humidifier cartridge ― the frequency of positive seedings was 22.7%±4.6. The received results showed the significance of couveuses as a risk factor of infections connected with health care delivery.
