Research objective: to evaluate the effect of “Tseloform” sorbent on the formation of the pathologic scar during the healing of the maxillofacial wounds.
Materials and methods: the scar forming in the submandibular area after the evacuation of odontogenic phlegmon of this localization was chosen as the object of study.
Results: formation of unsatisfactory pathologic scars was noted in both groups in 10-day observation. Vancouver scale was used to evaluate the postoperational scar. After using “Tseloform” sorbent, significant difference was revealed between two groups in 2 months. All parameters were improved: vascularization, plasticity, pigmentation and height of the scar.
Conclusion: sorptional-applicational therapy based on “Tseloform” is an early effective means to prevent pathologic scars formation.
Key words: sorptional-applicational therapy, “Tseloform” sorbent, odontogenic plegmon.
