The article presents the results of comparative experimental and clinical evaluation of ultrasonic 25G vitrector and the pneumatic guillotine vitrector of most common construction. It was detected that ultrasonic vitrector is effective instrument for vitrectomy surgery providing significant increase of performance and decrease of vitrectomy time necessary for subtotal vitrectomy of various vitreoretinal pathologies.
Key words: vitrectomy, ultrasonic vitrectomy, vitreoretinal pathology, vitreoretinal surgery.
