Objective ― to evaluate the trigeminal evoked potentials in patients with tinnitus.
Material and methods. Neurological, otoneurological, vertebral neurological examinations, audiological and neurophysiological (trigeminal evoked potentials) examinations were conducted in 63 patients with complaints of tinnitus or head noises.
Results. Correlates between the characteristics of myofascial pain syndrome, degree of severity of hearing disorders, changes in the main indicators of evoked potentials in this category of patients were revealed.
Conclusion. The obtained data suggest a change in the excitability of the structures of the nervous system involved in the pathogenesis of tinnitus. This leads to expansion of therapeutic and diagnostic measures in this category of patients.
Key words: tinnitus, somatosensory system, myofascial pain syndrome, trigeminal evoked potentials (TEPs).
