The presented literary review highlights modern views on conservative and operative methods of treatment of osteoarthritis of the knee, algorithms and features of their application. The authors consider the variants of indications and contraindications, as well as possible complications in the treatment of several stages of knee osteoarthritis, in cases of the use of treatment options, and special attention is paid to total knee replacement. The most important, from the clinical point of view, possible complications of knee replacement are analyzed and the peculiarities of arthroplasty in non-standard cases are considered. These are the development of the infection of the area of intervention, loosening of the components of the prosthesis and periprosthetic fractures. In addition, there is a risk of delay in the primary healing of the postoperative wound, nerve and vascular damage, as well as a high probability of re-intervention. The data on the treatment and management of patients with gonarthrosis, suffering from varying degrees of obesity.
Key words: osteoarthritis, conservative and operative treatment, arthroplasty, knee joint, obesity, thrombosis.
