The article presents a brief historical sketch of developing the method of transosseous compression-distraction osteosynthesis in Kazan school of traumatologists-orthopedists. The historical roots of Kazan school of traumatologists-orthopedists are shown. Succession of traditions in the work of the School founders is marked. The stages of improving the method of transosseous compression-distraction osteosynthesis are described by the example the works by doctors and researchers of Kazan Scientific-research Institute for traumatology and orthopedics and its successor — Scientific-practical center for trauma at Republic Clinical Hospital.
