  • Telemedicine in hypertension management: prospects and effectiveness

    Hypertension is a chronic circulatory disease characterized by a persistent increase in blood pressure above 140 and 90 mm Hg. Despite the availability of antihypertensive drugs, blood pressure control remains inadequate due to low adherence to therapy, limited monitoring by physicians, and imperfect risk assessment methods. Telemonitoring of blood pressure, which involves remote transmission of patient data to medical specialists, shows potential in solving these problems. Meta-analyses of randomized studies confirm that the integration of telemedicine technologies contributes to a clinically significant decrease in blood pressure and improves adherence to treatment. The review summarizes current data on the role of telemedicine in hypertension management, including the advantages and limitations of the approach.
