The article presents and substantiates, with the account of anatomic-functional features of sacroiliac joints, the multi-functional role of sacral bone and sacroiliac joints. During locomotion, the position of the sacral bone changes from the wedge inserted from above — the stable position of the pelvic ring formix — to the “pendant bridge” position — maximal damper properties. Performing metal osteosynthesis in the position of sacral bone — counter-nutation — provides maximal stability of pelvic osteosynthesis with minor lesions of the pelvic ring.

Key words: sacroiliac joints, pelvic bones, reposition, damping, pelvic ring formix, wedge, nutation, counter-nutation.
