Objective: to identify the diagnostic criteria for cervix anatomical insufficiency outside pregnancy, to evaluate the role of cervical plastics using Lash method in the prevention of preterm delivery.
Material and methods. The study was conducted in 33 patients with cervix anatomical insufficiency. All patients underwent cervical plasty with the Lash method, and the immediate and long-term results of surgical correction were evaluated.
Results. The main diagnostic criteria for detecting cervical insufficiency outside pregnancy were: pregnancy loss in history at 14 weeks to 25 weeks, patency of the cervical canal and thinning of the uterine wall in the form of a “membrane” in a bimanual study, signs of inflammation and changes in the cervix uterus structure in ultrasound. In 8 people in the late postoperative period pregnancy occurred, 7 of them bore that pregnancy full-term. During pregnancy, one patient required suturing by Shirodkar method at week 17, delivery to this patient occurred at 36 weeks according to obstetric indications.
Conclusions. One of the most significant methods for detecting anatomical changes in the cervix remains a thorough bimanual examination. Ultrasound can confirm changes in the cervical tissue. Cervical plastics using Lash method is an effective method of surgical correction of cervical insufficiency outside pregnancy, which is confirmed by successful cases of completion of a subsequent pregnancy.
Key words: cervical insufficiency, preterm labor, Lash operation.
