Considering the unfavorable prognosis for eyes in case of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment, the search for microinvasive, attenuated and effective methods of treatment (one of which is vitreoretinal surgery with the use of platelet-rich plasma) is topical today.
The technique, used in Budgetary Institution «Republican Clinical Ophthalmology Hospital» of the Ministry of Health of the Chuvash Republic for treatment of patients with various localization of breaks in case of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment, involved subtotal 25, 27-gauge vitrectomy with posterior hyaloid membrane removal, pneumoretinopexy, retinal break blockage with platelet rich plasma. Endolaser coagulation of retina around the retinal ruptures was not carried out in any case. A positive effect was obtained with the most gentle surgical intervention — full retina attachment in the postoperative period and improvement of visual functions of the operated eye.
Key words: platelet-rich plasma, PRP-mass, rhegmatogenous retinal detachment, retinal break blockage, elimination of endolaser coagulation.
