The article presents the results of bioptic material morphological investigation of patients with postburn eyelid deformities who had been operated on with the use of Alloplant biomaterials. Alloplant biomaterials are successfully used in ophthalmosurgery for fixation plasty, while allotendinous sutures are used for eyelid frame plasty. Both materials are produced by Russian Eye and Plastic Surgery Center. The aim of this research was to determine the response of the surrounding tissues and the structural changes in allogenic materials after their application. The morphological research of the biopsy material taken during the repeated corrections in patients who previously had undergone eylid plasty after thermal or chemical burns was carried out with standard histological methods. Biopsy was performed in 11 patients, 6 months, 1 and 3 years after operations. The results of the research showed that Alloplant in case of the eyelid frame plasty and allotendinous sutures in case of the fixation plasty inhibit rough scarring of the newly-formed tissues and are replaced by a structural-functional regenerated tissue without an apparent inflammatory and vascular reaction of the surrounding tissues. The regenerated connective tissue in the zone of allografts is formed as a result of the restorative processes in which the macrophages play a key role, gradually resorbing the allogeneic biomaterial during a long period of time.
Key words: eyelid plasty, cicatricial deformity, Alloplant biomaterial, postburn defects.
