All his life, Dmitriy Vasilyevich studied and taught students at the Department of Infectious Diseases of ASMI (Arkhangelsk State Medical Institute), which he founded in 1936; he did scientific research from his student days, published articles and monographs. He never hid his views on what was happening in the country, defended the church and faith in God, which is why he got in Butyrka prison by the «Moscow region doctors’ case», and was then exiled to Arkhangelsk. In 1960 he was posthumously rehabilitated.
