The results of treatment of 53 patients with bacterial vaginosis are given. The age of patients varied from 17 to 46 years (an average of 29,1±5,4). To identify the bacterial vaginosis and to control the treatment there was made a pH measurement of vaginal content, amine test, study of vaginal smears on the «key cells». In epithelial cells of vaginal smears glycogen was determined by McManus method and periodic acid-Schiff reaction (PAS-reaction). The results of microscopy of vaginal fluid in 29% of cases corresponded to dysbiosis of the 1st degree, 14% — dysbiosis of the 2nd degree, and 57% — dysbiosis of the 3rd degree. In the course of the semi-quantitative cytochemical determination of reaction of epithelial cells to glycogen, the highest percentage of weak response was observed in patients with dysbiosis of the 3rd degree (30 pers. — 56.6%). In the course of dysbiosis of the 2nd degree the weak reaction for glycogen was found in 7 (13.2%) people. In the course of dysbiosis of the 1st degree there was observed a moderate reaction to glycogen. After 7-10 days from the beginning of treatment with the positive effect of the therapy there was observed uniform and reasonable reaction to glycogen in the cytoplasm of the surface epithelial cells of vaginal smears. With the study of the glycogen content using the cytochemical method in dynamics, there can be found the effectiveness of the therapy and predicted the disease recurrence.
Key words: glycogen, bacterial vaginosis, treatment, McManus method.
