The liver is the second largest organ in the body; it participates in the homeostasis of carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, bile production, storage and filtration of blood. Liver dysfunction affects almost all body systems, manifesting itself in changes in the skin and mucous membranes color, the color of urine and feces changes, itching of the skin, and vascular manifestations. At the stage of damage like liver cirrhosis, portal hypertension and other complications may occur. Skin manifestations are a common and sometimes the most noticeable aspect of an objective examination. Due to their clarity, they attract both the patient’s and the doctor’s attention. The doctor’s task is to timely identify and link dermatological changes and clinical manifestations. Most skin manifestations are asymptomatic and do not require any specific therapy, but their early detection can help diagnose a liver disease, prevent or delay the development of complications and end-stage disease, reducing morbidity. The review discusses non-specific skin manifestations associated with liver diseases of various etiologies.
Key words: skin lesions, liver diseases, hepatitis, liver cirrhosis.
