The main links of POAG pathogenesis and pathogenetic methods of its treatment are considered. The characteristic of the SLT method is given, which is currently considered to be one of the modern antihypertensive therapy methods and one of the first choice methods for various types of glaucoma treatment. The mechanism of the method action and its pathogenetic validity are described. The data of the studies demonstrating the clinical effectiveness of the method with POAG at different stages are analyzed. Particular attention is paid to the data on the duration of SLT action and its combination with traditional medication antihypertensive therapy.

Key words: selective laser trabeculoplasty, primary open-angle glaucoma.
