     The purpose — to present information about the family factors having a positive and negative impact on the formation of a healthy lifestyle and health of a child.

    Material and methods. Analysis of literature data on the components of a healthy family lifestyle and the levels of its formation.

    Results. The article contains data on the role of parents and a child in a family, the structure of factors affecting maintaining health and reducing the risk of diseases, parenting styles, and the relationship of child’s health with the medical activity of the parents.

    Conclusion. Family can be described as an integral part of the modern society, which plays an important role in maintaining a child’s health through acquiring the qualities required for life in the society. Family functions include the physical, neuropsychic and moral education of a child, starting from the period of early childhood, and the formation of healthy habits and skills.
