The article presents a literature review estimating the diagnostic value of arthroscopy, along with such additional examination techniques as ultrasonic, x-ray examination, magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography in post-traumatic changes of the intra-articular structures of the knee joint in children. The implementation of radiological examination for the diagnosis of the knee lesions, as well as the interpretation of norm and pathology, are based largely on the existing «adult» criteria for interpretation of results. Until recently, the spectrum of diagnostic tests used for verification of post-traumatic changes of the intra-articular structures of the knee joint, included only radiation examination methods. Arthroscopy in pediatric practice is the method of final verification of a knee joint pathology, and it is a minimally invasive method of treatment of the knee joint injuries in children of all age groups.
