The article presents the results of a survey of 100 patients with pathology of the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses — the curvature of the nasal septum and acute purulent sinusitis, who did not complain of lacrimation. In these 2 groups of patients, the functional study of lacrimal passages using nasal samples was performed. The time of the appearance of the colorant — Collargol — on a cotton pellet was estimated, entered into the lower nasal passage. The data were collected on the low specificity of this investigation method of the pathology.

Key words: lachrymal passage, pathology of the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses, nasolacrimal test.
