Rendering psychological and psychiatric aid after accidents at chemical industry facilities (by the example of the Republic of Tatarstan)

Many people working at chemical industry facilities and living close to such enterprise can be subject to significant risk in case of accidents. The increase of the number of emergencies, including accidents with chemical substances, constantly increases the number of persons with various mental disorders conditioned by the influence of various stress factors. Organization and rendering of medical help, including psychiatric and psychological help to population in case of accidents at chemical enterprises is a complex and topical problem of medicine of catastrophes. Rendering the psychological and psychiatric help implies, first of all, preparatory measures, which must reduce the number of victims and the amount of damage to a minimum. The authors suggest using medical-sanitary institutions not only as additional hospital beds for the injured in case of emergencies, but also for rendering psychological-psychiatric aid for the victims.
