The article presents long-term results of surgical treatment of 32 patients with chronic constipation. Objective evaluation of the operation results, subjective assessment of surgical treatment by patients themselves are given. We have proposed a modified Wexner questionnaire for objective evaluation of the operation results. In patients with chronic refractory constipation, in case of careful selection for surgery and an individual approach to its volume, surgical intervention contributed to the restoration of regular self-defecation, normalization of health and ability to work in 78.1 % of cases. 84.4 % of patients rated the results of surgical treatment as excellent and good. All 32 patients responded that they would recommend surgical treatment to other patients with refractory constipation with similar initial symptoms.
