Objective. Assess the quality of follow-up and adherence to the treatment of patients with arterial hypertension.

Material and methods. The analysis of thematic examination of the quality of medical care was carried out in 432 patients with arterial hypertension who underwent medical examination in city polyclinics of Kazan and Naberezhnye Chelny. The assessment of treatment adherence was carried out at sociological surveys by quality experts who examined the quality of medical care and specialists of health insurance organizations, based on the Morisky-Green test that has been modified and adapted to the study. In total, 197 patients were interviewed.

Results. The analysis showed a high frequency of defects in the provision of medical care to patients with arterial hypertension, which may indirectly affect patient adherence to treatment. Low adherence of patients to antihypertensive therapy with a relatively high level of confidence in the attending physician was revealed.

Conclusion (summary). Results of the study indicate the need to constantly update and control the quality of knowledge on arterial hypertension among primary care physicians, the active work of insurance representatives of insurance medical organizations and their interaction with therapists and general practitioners in forming patient adherence to treatment.
