The paper analyzes the problem of using ethical standards when prescribing psycho pharmacotherapy under the requirement of strictly following the principles of evidence-based medicine. It is stated that many psychiatrists are skeptical about evidence-based medicine, as it is oriented towards the clinical, not scientific, facts. The conclusion is made that full and comprehensive information about all the available proofs of the efficiency and safety of the prescribed drugs must be provided to the patient. It is claimed that in modern conditions the role of the patient’s therapeutic qualification increases.
Key words: biomedical ethics, psycho pharmacotherapy, evidence-based medicine.
