The article analyzes the results of clinical and laboratory investigation in women with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and their female relatives, predisposed to the disease. In the individuals predisposed to the RA, high levels of proinflammatory cytokines were revealed in the periods of the absence of clinical and laboratory signs of infection and inflammation That could be due to the provoking of the cytokine production during the frequent and prolonged episodes of trivial infectious and to the inadequate inhibition of their synthesis after the resolution of the inflammatory process.

Key words: rheumatoid arthritis, proinflammatory cytokines, infections.
