Psycho-emotional and mental disorders in cancer patients may accompany all stages of treatment of the underlying disease. The study of the psychological characteristics of patients with cancer pathology makes it possible to state the need for psycho-rehabilitation activities which effectively affect the treatment process, quality of life, finding a new meaning of life, and also increase the skills of self-regulation and the possibility of preventing stress disorders during the long-term observation and chemotherapy.

The paper presents results of a study of psycho-emotional state of 1 030 cancer patients, taking into account the cancer location, as well as the directions of further activity and specific techniques.

Key words: psycho-oncology, psycho-rehabilitation of oncological patients, psychotherapy in oncology, psychological assistance.
