The article presents the results of a survey of 157 patients, including 135 patients with histologically verified diagnosis of BPH and 22 patients in the control group. All patients underwent the digital rectal examination, the total PSA blood test, and the transrectral ultrasound shear wave elastography. We compared the results of a comprehensive survey with the results of histological examination. The study proved that the ultrasound shear wave elastography increases the informativeness of transrectal ultrasonography in the diagnosis of BPH.
Key words: transrectal ultrasonography (TRUS), benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), shear wave elastography.
