Objective: to identify the molecular genetic risk factors for the development of community-acquired pneumonia in children based on the analysis of polymorphism of pro- and anti-inflammatory interleukins.
Material and methods: A comprehensive clinical, laboratory and instrumental examination of 69 children aged 6 to 15 years with acute community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) was performed. Clinical, laboratory and instrumental examination of children was carried out according to generally accepted methods. Special research methods: the analysis of the relationship of polymorphic variants of cytokine genes il6 (-174) C/G and il4 (-590) C/T in patients with CAP and in the control group. DNA samples obtained from the peripheral venous blood of children and scraping epithelial cells from the oral mucosa served as the material for molecular genetic research.
Results: the incidence of acute community-acquired pneumonia is associated with polymorphism (-174) of the C/G gene il6. At the same time, the predisposing effect of the polymorphism (-590) C/T of the il4 gene to acute community-acquired pneumonia differs in different age groups.
Conclusion: The study also permitted an assessment of the significance of polymorphic markers of cytokine genes (il6 -174С/T and il4 -590С/T), regulating their synthesis, in the risk of occurrence and development of the main phenotypic manifestations of acute lung pathology in children.
