Plasmapheresis in the treatment of severe intrahepatic cholestasis in pregnant women

The article presents a clinical case of pregnancy complicated by severe intrahepatic cholestasis and plasmapheresis as a treatment method for this pathology. The authors describe the therapeutic effect of ursodeoxycholic acid, ademetionine, and plasmapheresis, and the dynamics of blood chemistry and severity of clinical symptoms depending on the treatment.
Results. The plasmapheresis courses led to a temporary decrease in bile acid levels and a temporary clinical improvement.
Conclusion. The presented clinical case demonstrates the possibility of using plasmapheresis in pregnant women with severe intrahepatic cholestasis as an alternative treatment method to prolong gestational age and improve perinatal outcomes. The treatment tactics was obviously successful in this clinical case.
