Objective. To justify clinical application of sodium deoxyribonucleinate in patients after surgical correction of endonasal structures for increasing the surgical treatment effectiveness by restoring the regenerative processes in cilia epithelium.
Materials and methods. Patients with nasal septum deviation as a result of different growth speed of bony and cartilage parts of nasal septum, and patients with traumatic origin of deviation and/or having some conditions leading to thinning of nasal mucosa. The patients were divided into groups with and without post-operative application of sodium deoxyribonucleinate.
Results. In groups with application of sodium deoxyribonucleinate, the processes of regeneration passed quicker compared with the control group. Application of the drug shortened the use of nasal vasoconstrictors.
Conclusion. Applying drugs with nucleic acids is effective in postoperative management of patients after surgical interventions on endonasal structures.
Key words: nasal breathing, surgical treatment, mucociliary transport, deoxyribonucleic acid.
