The article is dedicated to the 140-th anniversary of birthday of Professor V.L. Bogolyubov who is by right referred to the outstanding group of scientists who laid the foundations of Russian surgical science. V.L. Bogolyubov is a surgical innovator who developed a number of original surgical interventions, an author of scientific works in various branches of surgery, an organizer of surgery education in high school and post-graduate levels in Russia, a physician-philosopher, a man who dedicated his entire life, his creativity and energy to the development of Russian science.
