A two-stage method for organizing screening for diabetic retinopathy using telemedicine (TM) technologies is proposed. The screening of diabetic retinopathy was carried out; technological maps for screening diabetic retinopathy were created by a standard technique (eye ground examination using the Goldman lens) and using TM technologies; the economic effect was estimated. The economic effect is estimated as a quotient of the standard method cost to the proposed method cost in percentages, as well as the difference between the standard method cost, according to the process list, and the proposed method cost, according to the process list, multiplied by the number of people in the Federal Register of people with diabetes mellitus (examination 1 time per year).
Key words: diabetes mellitus, diabetic retinopathy, screening, telemedicine.
