Optimization of spinal anesthesia in patients of pre-school age by using preliminary ultrasound investigation

A comparison of two children groups 3-6 years old has been carried out after spinal anesthesia (SA). Before SA there was performed intravenous anesthesia with Ketamin (2 mg/kg) and Diazepamum (0.15 mg/kg). The group 1 consisted of 26 cases, where ultrasound investigation was applied before SA. The group 2 consisted of 29 patients of SA without ultrasound investigation. Among patients of group 1 no postpunctional pain syndrome has occurred. Among patients of group 2 two cases of headache and one case of lumbar pain (p<0,01; X2) has occurred.
