The paper presents the experience of complex and combined surgical treatment 139 patients with nonspecific pleural empyema with bronchopleural fistulas (BPS) with the use of temporary occlusion of the bronchi (PSA) videothoracoscopy (VTS), the IR laser irradiation of the thorax. Significant factors affecting the effectiveness of temporary occlusion of the bronchi. Based on the results of the study the indications and contraindications for the use of a PSA in patients with pleural empyema BPS. Treatment algorithm, providing consistent application of PSA, VTS, laser therapy in the presence of bronchopleural messages allowed to achieve recovery in 84.3% of patients and significantly reduce the complications of PSA.
