The article presents etiology, pathogenesis and clinical manifestations of Madelung’s disease, and clarifies the difference of Madelung’s deformity from Madelung’s disease. The existing variants of operative interventions are presented, aimed at eliminating the silver fork deformity. A new method of closed elimination of the upper extremity deformity in Madelung’s disease is proposed, which is less invasive than the existing methods of operative treatment and gives better functional result compared to more traumatic operations.
Key words: Madelung’s deformity, radial bone deformity, Ilizarov’s device, distraction graft.
