 Modern obstetrics is distinguished by its versatility and flexibility. New technology implementation does not preclude the use of classical techniques and academic approaches to solving traditional problems of delivery. Christian Kielland, a Norwegian obstetrician, published the description of his straight forceps in 1916. Despite the fact that his forceps are recognized internationally as the most valuable tool for turning the head of the fetus during childbirth, for many years they were little appreciated in his own country. His technique and original instrument have already stepped over one century and may, if necessary, be useful for delivery in difficult and emergency obstetric situations.
