The authors have developed a new method for non-operative treatment of the initial stages (before finishing the fragmentation stage) of osteochondropathy of the hip. The method included prolonged epidural analgesia during 6-8 days. As a result of medicament sympathectomy, the blood vessels are dilated and microcirculation in a hip region is improved. Short-term results in 7 patients showed reduction of the pain syndrome and improving of the hip functioning after the treatment and during eight months after its termination.

Key words: osteochondropathy of the hip, non-operative treatment, prolonged epidural analgesia.
