This problem-oriented article presents the experience of a long-term research performed by the Pediatric Research and Clinical Center for Infectious Diseases under the Federal Medical Biological Agency and the Department of Neuroinfections and Organic Pathology of Nervous System. The research is devoted to diagnostics tactics, course prognosis, treatment and rehabilitation of children with infectious diseases of nervous system. The clinical and epidemiological features are described of purulent meningitis, meningococcal infection, serous meningitis, encephalitis, neuropathy, and myelitis in children. The article also describes the features of neuroinfection course depending on the etiology of infectious process and age. The article gives information on current features of Ixodidae tick-borne borreliosis and tick-borne encephalitis in children, frequency and structure of chronic forms of the disease. The tactics of differential diagnostics of encephalitis, acute disseminated encephalomyelitis, and multiple sclerosis in children developed in the Center is also introduced. The article describes the experience of the management of patients with neuroinfections, the role and value of cytokine-therapy and extracorporal methods in the treatment of neuroinfections, especially in case of urgent state management, the possibilities of robotized mechanotherapy in rehabilitation of children with movement disorders. The value of modern noninvasive methods is also shown, such as transcranial magnetic stimulation, evoked potentials, electroneuromyography in both diagnostics of neuroinfections and monitoring of recovery period. The tendencies and prospects of the problem solving within the framework of the sphere of neuroinfections in children are presented.

Key words: children, neuroinfections, meningitis, encephalitis, neuropathy, meningococcal infection, Ixodidae tick-borne borreliosis, tick-borne encephalitis, electroneuromyography, course prognosis, multiple sclerosis, acute disseminated encephalomyelitis, cytokine-therapy, immunology, hormones, evoked potentials, vaccine prevention.
