Music therapy in the integrated neurorehabilitation of children with autism spectrum disorder

The article discusses the application of music and means of musical influence as part of neurorehabilitation of children with disturbances of cognitive, speech and emotional development. An overview of the results of modern scientific studies of the effectiveness of music therapy in the corrective process in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is presented. Music is widely used as an element of the sensory environment affecting the development of psychical functions and as a means of integrative therapeutic impact within active and passive music therapy. The effectiveness of the method for children of different age groups, as well as for parents and family members, is shown. The authors analyze their own experience of using music therapy in working with children with ASD and emphasize the importance of cooperation between psychotherapists, speech therapists, educators, music therapists for the development and implementation of interventions aimed at mastering speech skills, communication and social activity by children with ASD using music resources.
