The doctrine of the normal microflora of the human body is currently in the focus of clinical microbiologists’ attention. Significant changes in the human’s microbiocenoses occur due to urbanization of the human society and increase of the environmental problems in the era of antibiotics and other factors affecting the immune status. If we relate the above to the local problems, in particular, the pathology of palatine tonsils, we can assume correlation of the intestinal and tonsillar microbiota as organs of the unified embryonic development.
Each of the human biotopes is a self-regulating system that performs mutually beneficial functions in cooperation with a macroorganism. The macroorganism and its microflora under normal physiological conditions are a complex, multifunctional, dynamic, equitable symbiosis. Biocenoses of all biotopes are inextricably linked and the change in one of the biocenoses naturally spreads to all parts of the microecological system. As a rule, changes in the intestinal microbiota inevitably affect the qualitative and quantitative characteristics of local biocenoses.
All immune cells are represented in the palatine tonsils. These cells carry out all types of known immune reactions. Given that the palatine tonsils are the part of general immune system, it is logical to take a look at the disease from the position of possible defects of the intestinal protective mechanisms. Modern trends in the disease treatment can rely on the restoration of microbiocenosis. The result of treatment may be normalization of intestinal and tonsillar microflora and restoration of immune function.
Key words: palatine tonsils, microbiota, phytoadaptogens, probiotics.
