The purpose — study of the features of medical rehabilitation in neuropathy of the facial nerve.
Material and methods. Were studied works on the rehabilitation of patients with facial nerve neuropathy, published in the modern literature. Particular attention was paid to using the methods physiotherapy, therapeutic physical factors, manual therapy, spa treatment, as well as botulinum therapy with this nosology.
Results. The main goal of treatment and rehabilitation measures (drug therapy, physiotherapy, acupuncture, massage, post-isometric relaxation of facial muscles and therapeutic gymnastics) for neuropathy of the facial nerve is to provide an anti-inflammatory and dehydrating effect, improve blood and lymph circulation in the nerve, and help improve nerve conduction. Various physiotherapeutic methods are used for anti-inflammatory, absorbable, decongestant, analgesic action in the acute stage of facial nerve neuropathy. Physiotherapy exercises are actively used, which is prescribed for neuropathy of the facial nerve from the acute stage of the disease. In patients with contracture of mimic muscles, post-ismoteric rehabilitation, autorelaxation, performed by the patient after his preliminary training, is successfully used. In the presence of contractures of facial muscles, botulinum therapy is used.
Conclusion. Thus, the use of various rehabilitation methods for neuropathy of the facial nerve determines the outcome of the disease, reduces the likelihood of complications, which, in turn, necessitates the use of adequate schemes of combined non-drug treatment for this nosology.
Key words: neuropathy of the facial nerve, contracture of facial muscles, medical rehabilitation.
