A clinical observation of a patient with long-term uncompensated hypothyroidism, which caused severe complications, is presented. The article presents anamnesis data, dynamics of clinical symptoms of the disease and the objective status of the patient, as well as the data of instrumental and hormonal studies. In clinical observation, the effectiveness of substitution therapy in the treatment of hypothyroidism and its complications was demonstrated. It is necessary to remember about timely diagnosis of «masks» of hypothyroidism such as alopecia, lipid metabolism disorders with the progression of atherosclerosis, effusions into serous membranes, and heart tamponade, leading to a sharp decrease in the quality of life.
