The aim is to study the contemporary aspects of the problem of male infertility and to identify the factors of its development.

Material and methods. The review of domestic and foreign literature on the prevalence and relevance of male infertility is given.

Results and discussion. Infertility is one of the most common problems of our time: according to statistics, 15% of married couples seek treatment because pregnancy is invalid for a year. It must be admitted that in the infertility structure the male factor occupies 40%. It shows the vulnerability of men in the modern world. WHO revised the norms of the spermogram many times, deviating in the direction of the pathological characteristics of spermatozoids. The man of the 21st century was not ready for such reasons as allergization of the population, increased incidence of inflammatory diseases, congenital pathologies, and social and technogenic effects. The role of immune infertility, caused by injuries, inflammation, infection with the formation of antisperm antibodies (ASA), capable of adhesion of spermatozoa and decrease in their mobility in the ejaculate, is also important. Also, various numerical and structural anomalies of chromosomes cause male infertility, contributing to the actualization of cytogenetic research. Metabolic syndrome, associated with excess intake of fats and fatty acids, undoubtedly has a negative effect on spermatogenesis. In turn, adipose tissue is the main depot of aromatization of androgens in estradiol, the last of which depresses the reproductive system of men. Prolonged stress loads against the background of the socially-negative influence of the environment lead to sexual, and often to generative dysfunction, destroying as a result marital relationships.

Conclusions. There is a need to continue work on defining the role of various factors that violate the quality of sperm, for which programs to update and promote healthy lifestyles for men should be implemented.

Key words: reproductive system, male infertility, impaired spermatogenesis.
