Objective. To study the remote anatomical and functional results and substantiate the indications for the use of the phakic intraocular lens model RSK-1(3) for correcting high-grade myopia.

Materials and methods. The subject of this study is the posterior chamber phakic intraocular lens RSK-1(3), developed in 2001. Long-term anatomical and functional results were studied in 18 patients (35 eyes) with high degree myopia, aged from 27 to 48 years (mean age 36 +10 years). The observation period was 5 to 12 years. The range of clinical refraction was from — 23.0 D to — 6.0D.

Results. It was found that in patients with high degree myopia, significantly high visual acuity values were detected in the early and late follow-up periods. Long-term anatomical results of the use of phakic IOL RSK-1(3) are characterized by the possibility of complications: pigment dispersion — 14 eyes, subcapsular lens opacities — 6 eyes, phakic IOL decentration — 2 eyes.

Conclusions. Implantation of the phakic IOL RSK-1(3) in patients with high myopia differs by a low incidence of intra — and postoperative complications in the early follow-up. The observed long-term anatomical and functional results of implantation of phakic IOL RSK-1(3) substantiate the expediency of its application in high degree myopia.

Key words: intraocular refractive surgery, correction of high degree myopia, phakic intraocular lens.
