Opening of local anesthetics and spreading of methods of prosthetics of herniotomy (using meshes for hernia repair) requires the need for revision of views on anesthesia when treating hernia repair. The article represents an overview of modern methods of local anesthesia in cause of interventions regarding inguinal hernia. The article includes a classification of the drugs used for the purpose according to their pharmacological characteristics. The importance of considering the peculiarities of the local and systemic action of local anesthetics from the position of the prevention of local and systemic complications is explained. Advantages and disadvantages of local anesthesia are estimated, as well as the approach to the choice of anesthesia.
Key words: local anesthesia, indications, local anesthetics, inguinal hernia, medical claims.
