Laparoscopic approach in the surgical treatment of nonneoplastic diseases of the colon

The article analyses the experience of laparoscopic operations in 25 patients with nonneoplastic colorectal diseases: chronic constipation, ulcerative colitis, rectal prolapse, injuries of the rectum. The specificity of the surgical operations, applied instruments and laparoscopic equipment, the course of postoperative period, the reasons for conversions and complications early postoperative period are presented. Emphasized the differences between the laparoscopic surgery of nonneoplastic colorectal diseases and malignant tumors. It is alleged that the laparoscopic approach in the surgical treatment of benign colorectal diseases more preferred, objective limitations to its use are few. However, method requires modern instrumental and equipment facilities and highly skilled surgical team. The authors have shown the benefits of laparoscopic over open surgery and noted the need for its broad introduction to the work of coloproctological departments.
