In Kazan, training in the «art of midwifery» has been carried out for more than 200 years. Available publications contain information about the influence of St. Petersburg school of obstetricians and gynecologists on the formation of Kazan school of obstetricians and gynecologists.

The purpose is to establish the connection, continuity and development of Kazan and St. Petersburg schools of obstetricians and gynecologists.

Results. The long-term relationship between St. Petersburg and Kazan obstetricians and gynecologists culminated in Prof. V.S. Gruzdev creating the scientific and practical school of Kazan obstetricians and gynecologists.
