Objective: To study the literature in which current views on the problem of jaundice in children are presented.

Material and methods: Analysis of domestic and foreign literature.

Results: The data obtained indicate a wide spread and a variety of causes of the development of jaundice syndrome, which can be observed in different age periods, which causes difficulties in the diagnosis. Differential diagnosis of the causes of jaundice is based on knowledge of bilirubin metabolism.

Conclusion: The obtained results allowed expanding knowledge about the causes of the development and diagnosis of jaundice in children, as well as considering this syndrome as an interdisciplinary problem.
