 Pyotr Mikhailovich Argutinsky-Dolgorukov is a pediatrician whose life is linked with Kazan Medical University. The article describes the main life milestones and scientific achievements of the Russian pediatrician who created new directions in pediatrics. The founder of the first children’s clinic in Kazan and in the Volga region, P. M. Argutinsky created a model school of European level for teaching a course of children’s diseases, training students and a large number of doctors at Kazan University. His works on infectious pathology, which was one of the main causes of infant mortality in Russia in those years, are well-known in Russia and abroad. In this direction, his clinic had a priority position. Pyotr Mikhailovich Argutinsky founded studying malaria in children and devoted many years to it. He introduced progressive methods of diagnosis and treatment into clinical practice. For the first time in Russia, he developed a method for hematological diagnostics of malaria. His clinic conductsed observations on the treatment of scarlet fever in children with Moser serum, studies of the measles pathogen, and X-ray diagnostics at a patient’s bedside. Under the supervision of Professor Argutinsky, his students published works on thyroid diseases, metabolic diseases, and rational nutrition of infants. The presented research on this topic, published in the Russian and German languages, was one of the most significant in pediatrics in the early 20^th century. The biography of Professor Argutinsky-Dolgorukov shows the enormous contribution of his work to scientific pediatrics in Russia.
