The paper presents the concept of an external fixation device for the surgical treatment of unstable fractures, as well as congenital and acquired deformities of the pelvic ring. The main approaches are analyzed, which were used for the treatment of this pathology in the last 20–30 years, both by the Russian and foreign surgeons. Based on the authors’ experience, the aspects are described that need to be considered during surgical intervention carried out to restore geometry and function in the treatment of unstable fractures, congenital and acquired deformities of the pelvic ring.
