     In 2020 we celebrate the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Department of Pediatrics at Kazan State Medical Academy. One of the main areas of the research work of the Department is the study of the causes of urinary system chronic diseases in children and the development of differentiated approaches to preventive and health-improving activities. The article presents the main development paths and scientific achievements of the staff of the Department of Pediatrics in the field of pediatric nephrology.

    Material and methods. Publications of the staff of the Department of Pediatrics in the field of pediatric nephrology since the scientific school establishment were studied.

    Results. The article presents the main directions of development of a children’s nephrology scientific school in Kazan, describes the results of scientific research, PhD and doctoral dissertations and publications in this field. The scientific achievements of representatives of the Kazan Nephrology School have gained recognition and fame not only in Kazan and the Republic of Tatarstan, but also abroad.

    Conclusions. Kazan Nephrology School made a great contribution to the development of pediatric nephrology; each of its research areas received worthy development resulting in the creation of scientific works that are recognized and have found their application in clinical practice.
